The Practitioner Performance Advice (Advice) service advocates for local informal resolution in helping the NHS to resolve issues concerning healthcare practitioner performance. We aim to do that in a fair, timely and proportionate way to reduce any adverse impact on the practitioner, their team and the organisation.
With this in mind, and aligned with our corporate strategy for 2025-2028, the reference group forms part of our commitment to work collaboratively with users of our services to hear and respond to feedback about their experience and how we can better.
The purpose of the Advice NHS Reference Group is to create a forum of leaders and subject matter experts who can share valuable knowledge and experience with the Advice service. The Advice service is committed to learning from meaningful engagement with our key stakeholders so that we co-design services and ensure the needs of our end users are heard and reflected in any new practice. Themes will be identified to guide discussions and areas for collaboration.
The first meeting was held on 30 April 2025 and will convene twice a year going forward. We request members to attend at least one meeting and to remain in the group for a minimum term of two years.
The forum consists of Responsible Officers, Medical Directors, Human Resources Directors and Heads of Professional Standards, or their nominated representatives, along with members of the Practitioner Performance Advice service. Please see the current membership list and the Terms of Reference for the group.
If you are interested in future membership, please contact marietta.smith1@nhs.net.
