We received 1,833 incident claims for needlestick injuries between 2012-2017 (fiscal years). Of these, the 1,213 successful claims cost the NHS £4,077,441. This leaflet looks to shed light on some of the claims data we hold on needlestick injury claims, how they are caused and how they can be avoided. This leaflet was created in collaboration with the Royal College of Nursing.
