In 2025, Tom joined the Practitioner Performance Advice service as an adviser in primary and secondary care.
Tom is a highly experienced employment law specialist. Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, he has supported healthcare organisations and practitioners through complex employment challenges.
Tom began his career at a national law firm, where he advised NHS Trusts on a comprehensive range of employment matters including MHPS processes, organisational change and Employment Tribunal claims.
In 2014, Tom joined the British Medical Association, initially as an Employment Adviser before being promoted to Senior Employment Adviser, a role he held until 2023.
During his time at the BMA, Tom provided advice and support to practitioners, often navigating complex MHPS investigations, disciplinary hearings and other HR processes.
Tom has a special interest in the development of an organisation’s just and learning culture and applying the Principles and Framework for Fairness and Proportionality.
