Profile

Becky joined NHS Resolution in September 2024 as the Deputy Director of Maternity Programmes and Evaluations.

She qualified as a midwife over 20 years ago, is a Professional Midwifery Advocate and has a Master’s in integrated governance in healthcare communities. She worked as a consultant midwife and a Maternity Governance Lead at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and has a keen interest in the relationship between positive safety cultures, service user experience and clinical outcomes.

Becky has worked in a national role since 2017, having previously been a Senior Clinical Advisor to NHS Resolution’s Early Notification Scheme, and the Clinical Lead for maternity and neonates in the national patient safety team at NHS England.

She went on to work as the Clinical Lead for culture and leadership in the national maternity and neonatal programme team at NHS England, where she led the perinatal culture and leadership programme. The programme was designed to support perinatal leadership teams across England to create and craft the conditions for a positive culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Becky is passionate about developing collaborative, positive relationships with others across the system so that a coordinated, aligned approach can be taken to the work we all do. Having focused her work in the patient safety space for over 10 years, she is acutely aware of the impact culture can have on the experience and outcomes of those that use our services and this continues to be a real area of interest to her. Becky believes that enabling cultural change will support staff and leaders to show compassion, to speak up, to continuously learn and create an environment of transparency, accountability, growth and learning.

She is keen to develop her own leadership style and skills and is currently undertaking the NHS Leadership Academy Nye Bevan programme that supports people into executive roles that span organisational boundaries; to move beyond leadership within their area of expertise.
