Learning from the delivery of healthcare in prison: video now available

Date published:

On 27 February 2024, NHS Resolution held a virtual forum on perspectives on delivering health in the prison and justice system.

The primary focus of this forum was to raise awareness of the cost and scale of harm. In addition, the forum facilitated discussions on the realities of delivering healthcare in prison, outlined best practices, addressed challenges and proposed recommendations for fostering collaboration in support of healthcare provision within the justice system.

We were joined by speakers from NHS England, Bevan Brittan and Practice Plus Group. The speakers shared valuable insights from an analysis of prison-related claims, supplemented by a session led by the Health in Justice team of NHS England.

The recording for the session is available for you to watch on our dedicated virtual forum on perspectives on delivering health in the prison and justice system webpage along with the presentation slides.

Our second strategic priority is to share data and insights as a catalyst for improvement. Our virtual forums each look at a unique topic from the perspective of sharing our claims data to derive usable insights that benefit patients and the healthcare and justice systems.

The recordings of our recent programme of primary care focused virtual forums are available on our website:
