Spotlighting Advice’s maternity team reviews

Date published:

Practitioner Performance Advice (Advice) have been actively engaging with key maternity stakeholders at various nationwide conferences over the past few months, including NHS ConfedExpo, HSJ Patient Safety Congress, Baby Lifeline National Maternity Safety and RCGP Annual Conference.

Advice have been sharing information about the maternity team review offer, which provides a better understanding of the barriers to resolving behavioural issues within a maternity team and suggests options for improving professional relationships. The maternity team review offer can cover a multidisciplinary team, including obstetricians and midwives, but also, and not exclusively, obstetric anaesthetists, neonatologists and maternity support workers.

The team review was designed to play a valuable role in helping to address some of the factors that impact maternity performance and safety in England.

Maternity team review: case study

Advice have developed a maternity team review case study, which explores the process, explains why a maternity team review may be necessary and the outcomes. The maternity team reviews case study draws on real events and lessons learnt in cases where Advice have supported the resolution of performance concerns.
