NHS Resolution is pleased to announce the appointment of Rosa Parker as Education Manager within Practitioner Performance Advice.
The role of Education Manager is to help healthcare organisations build the knowledge and skills they need to identify, manage and resolve performance concerns locally, through a range of education programmes. As well as programmes available to individual delegates, our courses can be run in-house in individual organisations and can be tailored to meet individual requirements.
After completing a Masters in Education Psychology, Rosa developed extensive knowledge and experience of the healthcare sector, with various roles in the third sector, including Community Development Worker; focused on establishing a Social Prescribing project in partnership with adult social care and primary care in a South London borough, as well as working with primary and secondary care organisations to look at the patient experience of cross borough health programmes.
Rosa joins us following a three-year post with the National Guardian’s office, where she focused on the training and development offer for Freedom to Speak Up Guardians across England.
In this interview Rosa talks about her background and previous work experience benefitting this new role and what she is most looking forward to and key priorities in her new role as Education Manager.
Why did you join NHSR?
Working most recently with the National Guardian’s Office, I was supporting, and designing training materials for Freedom to Speak Up Guardians. This led me to the work of NHSR. Freedom to Speak Up Guardians provide an alternative route for those in healthcare to speak up about anything that gets in the way of good patient care. They also work towards making speaking up business as usual, thus tackling challenges, as well as encouraging people to make suggestions for improvements, at an early stage. This aim resonates strongly with the work of NHSR. Working on furthering the Education service with Practitioner Performance Advice felt like a natural opportunity for me to use my previous experience and help to build upon the excellent work of creating environments where concerns are dealt with in a fair and just way.
What are your key priorities in this role?
A key priority in this role is to ensure that our education service remains current, expert and continues to be a leading provider of tools for our colleagues in the NHS to enable them to feel better prepared to resolve concerns at the earliest opportunities. I will also aim to make materials even more accessible, and available at the point of need. I will capitalise on NHSR’s case work to enrich the learning products to the advantage of health care colleagues and in turn, patients. Responding to emerging themes to pre-empt system demand for new educational products is also a high priority.
What are you most looking forward to working on?
I am very much looking forward to working on the roll out of our upcoming compassionate conversations offering and understanding its impact as a new product with fascinating, and in-demand content. Compassionate conversations has been designed by NHS Resolution, to develop confidence and capability in having compassionate conversations that are honest and engage with challenging subjects, particularly in relation to practitioner performance. I am also looking forward to exploring the need for newer products and working with the excellent Education team and expert colleagues across NHS Resolution to design and trial new learning opportunities.
